Foxy Fall Century Ride

Foxy Fall Century Ride in Davis, California.

The Davis Bike Club has sponsored the Foxy’s Fall Century annually since the late 1960’s, and it has proven to be a very popular event because of our beautiful course, the enthusiastic support of our volunteers as well as the food and amenities that the Davis Bike Club offers during this event.

100 mile Century with ~3100 feet of climbing through Yolo, Solano, and Napa counties
The moderately challenging climbs begin along Highway 128 westbound as riders approach Lake Berryessa. Most of the climbing occurs before the descent into Wooden Valley and lunch stop at the Gordon Valley fire station, on a lightly traveled back road on the edge of Napa County. Return to Lake Solano via Pleasants Valley and Putah Creek Roads, then back to Davis.

100k metric Century with ~1100 feet of climbing
The route winds through orchards and rolling hills to the north edge of Vacaville, then toward Winters and lunch at Lake Solano via Pleasants Valley and Putah Creek Roads, and finally back to Davis along orchards and flat country roads.

Flat 50k ride
This flat 31-mile route follows country roads through farmland, over the iconic Stevenson Bridge and then through orchards to Winters with food and beverages in the park before returning to Davis.

Tour de Manure - Sierraville, CA

Tour de Manure - Sierraville, CA

What the heck is the
Tour de Manure?

“It’s a bunch of Sierra Valley folks sharing their beautiful ranchlands with two-wheelers!” says Doug Read, founder of the one of California’s quirkiest rides, Sierra Valley’s Tour de Manure.

Cyclists say they love the Tour de Manure first because of its spirited volunteers, then because of the scenery. After getting your T-shirt and registration in downtown Sierraville at the fire station, head out into the valley, where volunteer “Turn Cowboys” guide you along the course. Rest stops run by bicycle clubs and chambers of commerce offer the sort of hash that historic Sierra gold miners turned to after a long day's hau

Just when you think you’re riding into a meadow-land outer space, a homemade lemonade stand appears, run by the Spencer family next to their Lost Marbles ranch out in the central Sierra Valley. Most of the ride is flat, but  near the end there are a few hills and sometimes some headwind, so save that energy and be prepared.

At the finish line party in downtown Sierraville, firefighters don’t let cyclists — or guests — go hungry. They serve up BBQ chicken, tri-tip and beans by When Pigs Fly BBQ, along with pasta, salad, garlic bread, and homemade desserts. Los Dos Hermanos, the restaurant next door, brings over salsa and fresh chips. Bring your dancing shoes to step out to the tunes of the Michael Hogan and the Simpletones, this year featuring the transformative piano playing of David Fenimore.

TOUR OF CARSON CITY

  • Shoe Tree Brewing Co., (1496 Old Hot Springs Rd, Carson City, NV 89701) (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Route Description

This 27- mile paved route was first established by Denis Coyne, owner of Bike Habitat. In 2023, he graciously handed this popular and beloved event to Muscle Powered, and we are excited to continue his tradition.

Although both the start and finish will be at Shoe Tree, the route will remain relatively unchanged. For those of you who are new to the Tour of Carson, this ride takes road bikers (traditional and e-bikes permitted) on a stunning excursion around Carson City. Join other road bike enthusiasts as you traverse from north to south, east to west, on a 27-mile ride with approximately 1,223 ft. of elevation gain.

This event is not a race and is viewed as a group ride. We encourage helmets, as you will be on roads for 90 percent of the ride. The remaining 10 percent will be on Carson's multi-use paths.

The course will be marked with a series of directional yellow dots.

One dot= Continue Forward

Two dots=Turn Right

Three dots=Turn Left

All riders are encouraged to wear a helmet, wear bright neon clothing and have bike lights on both the front and back of your bike.

This is a self-supported ride. Any rider who gets a flat or has issues with their bikes will be responsible for getting back to the starting point. Other riders may have basic tools if needed.

Individuals can use a Strava route to navigate the course: https://www.strava.com/routes/3216249737029573042

Ride for Tate

Our annual ride to remember Tate Meintjes, who left us too early on March 12, 2019, will be this Saturday.

This is a laid-back and informal gathering to remember our friend Tate.

There are two meeting location options to participate in this ride:

If you are in decent shape and would like to take on the longer ride, we will leave from the Reno Softball Complex off of N. Virginia St., just north of the University at 9 AM.

That group will head up Evans Canyon and meet the later group at the Hoge Road trail head by the towers.

If you are looking for a shorter ride, the Evans Canyon group will start from Hoge Rd between 9:45 AM and 10 AM. At approximately 10 a.m. the whole group will leave Hoge Rd and head up Total Recall trail to the first snowboard bench, where we will regroup and hang out for a bit.

The plan is for the whole group to descend back to the Hoge Road trailhead, where drinks and treats will be available.

If weather requires a change in plans, we will give those details.
